Live Poets at Soul Food
The Dead Poets Society met in a cave to read and share verse. This group is for poets who are very much alive, who have words running, pulsating through their veins. From an outside landscape that can be harsh and barren, we come together in this nurturing, verdant oasis; fellow wanderers, wonderers, sharing our words.

Fran - if you get here to see this comment - I've got to tell you that I am totally enamored of the cigars I have painted! I got the whole thing done and was pleased with the runes, but most of all ~ those cigars! You know what else? I HATE CIGARS! I have to leave the room if anyone smokes one. That probably makes me like this whole silly painting even more!
Dear my dear: a triumph of imagination--I really missed the cigars being totally taken by the relationship of the two women, the tipping wine, the color....as for cigars, I rather liked the scent as they reminded me of my father, a heavy smoker, who on rare occassion smoked a cigar but as for smoking one (or any other smoking) I have not tried it. The very thought of putting any substance into my mouth that might upset my stomach was enough to prevent any experimenting even as a teenager. Perhaps the intimate discussion involved thinking about someone other than the two ladies, or were they merely being high fashion? Somehow I feel they are having a fun time and the wine and cigars are part of the play...there is something of a stage about the painting. Were you visualizing a performance? The rune stones are wonderful-I have a set and can't find them...but a way to get inside your own head. Who knows what these two may cook up? (I wonder if the obvious close communication is the scent of theme) A very pleasant perfume. F
