The Puppeteer

The Puppeteer

Life is a stage upon which we dance,
controlled by the strings of the puppeteers.

Law abiding citizens that we are,
we do what the strings instruct,
but who among us hasn't wondered
if what we're doing
is right for us,
right for our fellow travelers,
right for the planet?
Do the puppeteers always know to pull the right strings?
Or are they just restless beings like us?
Do they manipulate the strings the way they've been told,
to get the job done to their advantage only.

Think about it.
If he's not doing what is right for you,
rein in your puppeteer,
cut the cords and go your own way
with no strings attached.

Such an incredible metaphor, Vi! How hard it is to disengage the strings, how much easier to just relax, go limp and let them pull. Again, I learn from my daughters who are at least constantly turning to LOOK up at those strings and saying, “What is this? Will it serve the planet? Will it serve humanity? Will it serve me? If it won’t - snick, snack, it goes out of my life. For I can bear my own weight without it.”

Strings
heart strings
impossible
to break

The left-handed Spinner
holds each day
within her grasp
